These socks are knitted from the cuff down, with a kite heel and a simple texture pattern.
Needle 1 is the sole (under the foot), and needle 2 is the instep (over the foot) if you’re using the magic loop method.
You can choose to add a small contrast colour at the top edge, or keep the socks in one colour.
